Sermon review -- Mark 7:1-23:
  • What excuses do you make to avoid the commandments of God? Religious actions? Claiming ignorance or inability? (Share this with a trusted friend and pray to God for one another)
  • How do you “get around” the parable Jesus teaches? In what ways are you blaming outside things for your temptations? (Spend time assessing your own heart and confessing before God)
  • Jesus roots the failure to keep God's commands to the heart and thoughts.  What heart and thought areas need to be submitted to Jesus as the I Am and Greater Prophet? (Spend time in prayer and repentance seeking how God would empower the exercising of your faith in this area)
Preview of next week’s sermon -- 2 Corinthians 3:4-6:
  • What repeated word do you find in this text? How does that word reveal the main emphasis of this passage?
  • Make a list of all the contrasts Paul makes in this text. How does this reveal the main point that Paul is making?
